CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF STANDARD GAUGE RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION FROM MOROGORO TO MAKUTUPOLA HAS SIGNED.
Reli Assets Holding Company has signed contract with the Turkish Company Yapi Markez to construct Standard Gauge Railway second phase from Morogoro to Makutupora 33km main rail and 86km crossing section and shunting area that makes total of 422 kilometres that carries 35tones.
.The Contract has total of 4.6 Trillion, and it has been signed by the RAHCO and TRL Director General Mr. Masanja Kadogosa and Yapi Merkezi Vice Chairperson Mr. Erdem Arıoğlu and Project Manager of Tanzania and Ethiopia Mr. Abdullah.
.Minister for Works, Transport and Communication Prof. Makame Mbarawa said signing the contract for the second phase shows the government ambition to improve railways infrastructure for the aim of speed up economic development.
Mbarawa Added that Standard Gauge Railway will bring huge changes in Social and Econimic development at large. It will save roads from destruction caused by cargo transported by tracks, it will minimize the cost of transportation from a long distance and reduce price of goods.
Event took place at Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre (JKNICC) attended by Turkey acting Ambasador witn other representatives from Yapi Merkezi. Others were officers from the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication and Secretary General Dr. Leonard Chamuriho.
